Mr. Liu Eats Breakfast
After Mr. Liu got up in the morning, he didn’t know where the hotel’s breakfast was, so he went to the front desk to ask the staff. The staff said, “It’s in the lobby café, please follow me.” Mr. Liu followed the staff and walked into the café.
The café staff saw him and said, “Good morning, sir. Just one person?” Mr. Liu said, “Yes, one person.” The staff then led him to a table and said, “This way please.”
After he sat down, the staff asked him, “Would you like tea or coffee?” Mr. Liu thought about it and said he didn’t want tea or coffee — hot water would be fine. The staff said okay and immediately went to get him hot water.
Mr. Liu really liked eating Chinese breakfast, and he asked the staff, “Do you have congee and steamed buns?” The staff said, “Yes, over there.” She pointed at the table in front, where there were many delicious breakfast foods.
Mr. Liu took a bowl of congee and two steamed buns, went back to his table, and ate slowly. He felt that this hotel’s service was very good, and the breakfast was also delicious. He wanted to stay at this hotel again the next time he traveled for business.

Chinese Hotel Breakfast Staples
A typical Chinese hotel breakfast buffet often features 粥 (zhōu, congee) and 包子 (bāozi, steamed buns) alongside Western options like coffee and toast. Many Chinese guests prefer 热水 (rèshuǐ, hot water) over cold drinks in the morning, since drinking warm water is a common wellness habit in Chinese culture.
