Dawei, a young man who loves to cook, reads about famous Shanghai chefs and decides to move to Shanghai next year to master the art of cooking.

Dawei’s Dream
My name is Dawei, and I’m someone who really loves to cook. Ever since I was little, I liked helping my mom cook in the kitchen. But I always felt that the food I made wasn’t good enough, and I wanted to learn more so I could become better at cooking.
Last month, I read an article online introducing famous Shanghai chefs. The article said those famous chefs started learning to cook from a very young age, and it took them many years before they learned to make truly delicious Shanghai food. After reading it, I found it very interesting, and I really admired them. I thought to myself, if I could be as impressive as they are, how great would that be.
That night, I told my friend about this. I said, I want to go learn to cook, and cook as well as the famous Shanghai chefs. My friend asked me, you can learn to cook anywhere, so why do you have to go learn in Shanghai? I said, because Shanghai has a lot of famous chefs, and also a lot of good culinary schools — studying there would definitely let me learn even more.
After hearing this, my friend said I see, it seems that makes sense. He asked me when I planned to go, and I said I hadn’t decided yet, maybe I’d work for a year first, save up a little money, and then move to Shanghai. He said this plan wasn’t bad, and also said that if I ever made delicious food in the future, I’d definitely have to invite him to try it.
Later, I thought about it seriously for a long time, and finally decided to move to Shanghai next year to learn to cook. Although leaving home would be a little sad, I feel that it’s worth it for the sake of my dream. I believe that as long as I study hard and practice a lot, in a few years I too can become a very skilled chef, making food that everyone says is delicious.
